Focus and Scope

Focus
 JRHE advances educational knowledge by publishing rigorous, interdisciplinary, and futures-oriented scholarship that bridges the learning sciences, social sciences, the humanities, and computational/engineering perspectives. The journal connects theory with actionable practice across pre-tertiary (K–12), higher education, non-formal education, and lifelong learning in diverse global contexts.

Scope (topics include, but are not limited to):

  1. Curriculum & Pedagogical Transformation — learning design, inclusive pedagogy, teacher professional learning, design-based research.
  2. Futures & Foresight in Education — futures literacy, scenario planning, horizon scanning, anticipatory governance, resilience, ESD.
  3. Educational Technology & Emerging Media — AI in education, learning analytics, XR/VR/AR, human–AI collaboration, digital platforms and ecosystems.
  4. Digital Citizenship, Safety & Well-being — online behavior, safeguarding, cyberbullying/anti-bullying, mental health promotion.
  5. Assessment, Measurement & Psychometrics — validity/reliability, adaptive testing, large-scale assessment, program evaluation and impact.
  6. Leadership, Policy & Governance — systems change, ethics of technology, data governance, equity-driven policy design and implementation.
  7. Sociology of Education, Culture & Media — popular culture, community/family engagement, social stratification, media and education.
  8. Equity, Inclusion & Sustainability — access and participation, disability and inclusion, decolonial and Global South perspectives, sustainability in education.
  9. Methodology & Evidence Synthesis — qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods; systematic reviews, meta-analyses; open and reproducible research.

Methodological Breadth
 JRHE welcomes hypothesis-driven and exploratory studies; experimental/quasi-experimental designs; longitudinal and comparative studies; design-based implementation research; case studies and ethnographies; instrument development and validation; as well as registered reports and replications.

What We Particularly Encourage
Cross-disciplinary contributions that integrate theory and method, foreground ethical and equitable practices, and offer clear implications for policy and practice.
